Weapon and Armor Proficiency
Paladins are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor (heavy, medium, and light), and with shields (except tower shields).
Armor of Orthos
The Paladin of Orthos, upon being accepted into the Order of Orthos, receives a set of Magesteel Full Plate, emblazoned with the seal of Orthos. Non-lawful characters that perceive the sigil may immediately make a +10 Knowledge: Local check to identify that the wearer is part of the Order. This armor also gives him a +4 Charisma bonus to Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive when using them in matters relevant to the law.
He also receives a +1 Magesteel Warhammer, the favored weapon of Orthos, and a +1 Magesteel Heavy Shield, emblazoned with the seal of Orthos. Optionally, he may choose to receive a +1 Greathammer. The Paladin may have these armor and weapons enhanced at cost by certain clerics of the Order of Orthos, residing in most major temples.
Aura of Law
The power of a paladin’s aura of law is equal to her paladin level.
Once per day, a Paladin of Orthos may judge his opponent and gaze into his mind and past. The subject of the Paladin’s judgment takes a -1 to attack when attacking anyone other than the Paladin, being that he is distracted by Paladin’s piercing, judging gaze. At 3rd level, and every two levels past 3rd, this penalty increases by an additional -1, reaching a maximum of -5 at 9th level. The Paladin may also be informed of one villainous crime the subject has committed, by Ortho’s will. The paladin may cast this ability an additional time per day at 4th level, and an additional time at 8th, reaching a maximum of three times per day.
Hand of Justice
At 2nd level, the Paladin of Orthos strikes a non-lawful creature with the gaze of Orthos. He may take a swift action before an attack once per turn to deal an additional 1d6 damage + his charisma modifier. The die bonus increases to 1d8 at 4th level, 1d10 at 7th level, and 1d12 at 10th level. He may use this ability three times per day plus his charisma modifier. This has no affect on lawful creatures, unless the lawful creature has committed a heinous crime, as revealed by the Judgement class feature.
Will of Orthos
At third level, the Paladin’s armor begins to resonate with Orthos’ will. The Paladin’s armor becomes a set of +1 Full Plate, and the armor grants DR 5/chaos.
The Paladin of Orthos receives a bonus combat feat at fourth level. He may add his Palaidn of Orthos level to his fighter level for the purposes of acquiring feats.
At 5th level, while wearing his set of Full Plate, the Paladin of Orthos’ presence is something mighty to behold. All non-lawful opponents of the Paladin must make a DC10 + the Paladin’s class level will save or are subjected to a -3 penalty to stealth and sleight of hand. This increases to a -6 penalty at 9th level. If the paladin notices an opponent subjected to this penalty, he may roll an intimidate check as a free action to frighten the creature. The creature may re-roll to remove the frightened effect each turn, and if he succeeds he removes the frightened status and may not be affected by this ability for 24 hours.
Additionally, his armor becomes a set of +2 Full Plate.
If the Paladin of Orthos conceals, removes, or hides his armor in any way, he loses all of these bonuses. The bonuses are returned upon revealing or re-equiping his armor.
The Paladin of Orthos receives a bonus combat feat at sixth level. He may add his Palaidn of Orthos level to his fighter level for the purposes of acquiring feats.
Speed of Justice
At 8th Level, the Paladin of Orthos is infused with Orthos’ will. While in combat with or while pursuing a non-lawful creature or a lawful creature that has committed a heinous crime, the Paladin may move at his full speed +10 feet per turn while wearing his Full Plate. If he is not wearing his Full Plate, he does not receive this benefit. Additionally, his armor becomes a set of +3 Magesteel Full Plate.
Justice of Orthos
At 10th level, the Paladin of Orthos may take a day of prayer and a personal item of his target to forge a link between himself and his quarry, marking him with the Sigil of Orthos and allowing the Paladin to always know in what direction his quarry lies. Additionally, he gains a +5 guidance bonus to his attacks against his chosen target and when he strikes his target with Hand of Justice he adds twice his charisma bonus instead.
This mark is visible to detect magic and can only be removed with spells like the Wish spell and cannot be blocked in any way. However, this link ceases to be effective if the quarry leaves the plane of existence the Paladin is on. The Paladin will know why it has ceased, but not which plane his target has escaped to. If the quarry is killed while the Sigil of Orthos is upon him, the Paladin is informed of his death by the link and the link ceases to exist.
The Paladin may only have one link active at a time.
